Dallas Youth Sports

Our Story

Mission
Dallas Youth Sports promotes education, leadership, discipline, health and wellness through sports.

Vision
Our vision is to provide every youth with the opportunity to play sports and give them the tools they need to build a better community.
About Us
Dallas Youth Sports, in conjunction with Dallas Youth Athletic Association, a 501 (c) non-profit organization, works to provide affordable recreational sports programs to the youth of the Dallas-Oak Cliff area.

Founded by a volunteer board, Dallas Youth Sports continues to operate through the generosity of members of our own community. Our staff organizes sports leagues, tournaments, and special events throughout the year in order to reach as many children as possible.

We help our inner city youth develop athletic skills, healthy living habits, and leadership qualities by building a team concept at an early age. This enhances each child personally, athletically, and academically.

Our organization continues to grow with the help of our partners like First United Bank, Trinity Basin PreparatoryDallas Independent School District, and the Huerta Family Foundation. Dallas Youth Sports serves over 4,200 participants a year, establishing us as a constant advocate in our community.

Our History

Through the years...

2004 Our Baseball program was created by our current Executive Director, JR Huerta. With the help of a group of volunteers and the City of Dallas Recreation program, we would prepare for our first season and players the following year.

2009 Dallas Youth Baseball (DYB) became an independent program, under the direction of JR Huerta. Our volunteer board members prepared for our first Opening Day Ceremony, teams' parade, and annual First Pitch of the Season coming in Spring 2010 at Kiest Park.

2010 What once was a City of Dallas recreation program, under the direction of Ruben Limon, Dallas Youth Soccer (DYs) would be established as an independent program. Under the direction of
JR Huerta
and Robert Rocha, our volunteer board members prepared for our first Kick Off Ceremony and annual First Kick of the Season coming in Spring 2010 at Hulcy Park.

2012 Dallas Youth Athletic Association was born as a 501(c) non-profit organization which
incorporated DYB and DYs. We work in partnership with Dallas Youth
Baseball and Dallas Youth Soccer to provide affordable recreational sports programs to the youth of the
Dallas-Oak Cliff area.

2014 The Huerta Family created a program that will eventually be known as the DYS Scholarship Foundation. With Alicia, Krystal, and Jacob Huerta as committee members, this program
aims to help students with the pursuit of an higher education.

2017 We are now known as Dallas Youth Sports, a multi-sport organization that builds leaders of the future. DYS has over 4,000 registered youth every year playing under the direction of our sports directors and volunteers.

2018 Thanks to a partnership with Trinity Basin Preparatory, Dallas Youth Sports would find a home at the TBP Athletic Complex. With this multi-use complex, DYS would become a predominate organization to host youth, adult, college, and semi-pro tournaments for both basketball and volleyball.

2019 First United Bank becomes our partner because of their dedication to building a better
community
and helping others find a path to success. We hope that with the assistance of our organizations, we inspire and empower others to Spend Life Wisely

2020 Our football program was started, with the help of Oscar Manzo and the North Oak Cliff Eagles. Adding this to our organization would open our youth programs to all of the four major sports and fuel our desire to expand even more!

2021 With the lack of a solely youth female sports league in the Oak Cliff area, Dallas Youth Sports
has
decided to establish a softball program. Even though we already have a few young girls participating in our organization, we want to give more girls the opportunity to play sports in
their community.
